How is deepOfix different from generic GNU/Linux operating systems?

deepOfix is a GNU/Linux operating system that once installed, performs as a full-fledged mail server. It was not designed to be a general purpose operating system, but specialized for efficient mail server installation and maintenance.

Easy to install

The deepOfix packages, installation and configuration scripts and everything else you need to create a CD is available on an ISO image. The installation procedure asks you exactly what is needed for mail server configuration. After answering these few questions, the system is installed in minutes, so that you have a fully functional mail server.

LDAP based authentication and user management

Unlike most GNU/Linux distributions, deepOfix has a fully configured OpenLDAP server running at first bootup. The LDAP directory purports to store and manage information about the mail users. Consequently, you do not need to manually install or configure LDAP support for your system.

Administration via browser

deepOfix is not designed to function as a desktop system. It comes with a web application, EasyPush, for easy mail server administration. The EasyPush Server manager provides a simple, yet comprehensive interface, so that mail server administration can be performed using a web browser.
